i have written the same in post query in 6i, but it results in exiting of forms when don query. help me out as i want certain rows to have different color based on values .

I suggest that you look at the Set_item_instance_property command's Visual_attribute facility. Create a Visual_Attribute that has the various foreground and background colours, etcetera, that you want and apply it in your Post-Query trigger.
