Were you running the same version of forms on the old server?

Okay ... let's define this a bit better.

You are running Forms 6i on the same platform as before.

You are running Oracle 9 enterprise database on the same platform as before.

You are running Oracle Application Server on a new platform.

Is this correct?

David

PS. Make sure that the OAS to DB link is running at full speed, they have a habit of going to a default value that is quite a slow speed.

I'm sorry for the slow response from me...

Yes, it is correct. Actually, this question raised by our client, and it stranged that all the applications mentioned above are not displayed in "add/remove programs"

to be honest, I'm very new in this application. So, I need
a help how to set OAS parameter for DB Link.
Thx in advance..

The Oracle Universal Installer should be in "add/remove programs" and it is used to install most of the Oracle Products. Be careful when trying to uninstall Oracle Products. There are threads in this forum on that subject.

The 'DB Link' is done in the tnsnames.ora of the Oracle Application Server.

Do you still have access to the old server? Did you copy the files from the old server to the new server, or did you install onto the new server from scratch?

Hi,
Correction: Cust didn't install OAS (oracle application Server).
The program is stored in Server and accessed by Client using mapping drive.
The version:
Oracle Version:
Oracle 9i Rel 2 (9.2.0.1.0) Enterprise Edition.
Forms Application Version:
Oracle Forms 6i.

Question: Does Form6i support Processor Xeon with EMT64T ?
Thx for the support.

Be careful with network drives. You must not have any empty directories, you must also be careful with MS servers as Oracle assumes NT compliant network drives and Windows NT in not NT compliant.

Also put your code directories BEFORE the oracle and system directories otherwise your forms, which you are trying to open quickly, will be at the end of a very long list of programs, and that takes time to scan EVERY time you want a new form.

Hi David,

About you statement in your email, Thu, 28 July 2005 01:06. About Add / Remove program list, how about this email on http://www.orafaq.com/forum/m/130857/74970/#msg_130857 about Enterprise Manager Forum, that declared "Oracle programs are not listed in "Add/ Remove Programs". To see what is installed, start the installer and click on "Installed Products".

Thank's

Oracle installer is not considered to be an Oracle Program as such. I stand by my statement.

Please find attached a MS Word document containing a screen dump of part of my MS XP "Add or Remove Programs" list.

Please note I do NOT have Forms Builder on this machine. We use a central Forms Builder machine into which I have to sign in.

Probably not. May I suggest that you Install the Installer, not just install off the CD all the time. Get the latest version you can find. Then use it to install the other forms and reports applications.
